DRESS CODE

DRESS CODE FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR

The dress code requires that all clothing be purchased from
Schoolbelles. We hope that you have already been to Schoolbelles to purchase or order your student’s uniforms for the school year.

Schoolbelles is located at 5700 Monroe Street in the Starlite Plaza. Their phone number is 419-824-0400. You are also able to purchase uniforms through their
website.

During the first few weeks of school we follow a relaxed dress code that is explained in detail in the section on "Shorts" listed below.

PURPOSE

Appearance and grooming are strong expressions of one’s inner ideals and culture. Industry and business have found it necessary to establish dress codes for employees in order to maintain a serious and professional attitude. Therefore, as members of a school community, it is fitting to establish such a dress code at Cardinal Stritch High School. Appearance and compliance to the dress code is the responsibility of students and their parents. The following regulations are intended to insure a reasonable and respectable appearance that will achieve the purposes stated above:

APPROPRIATE DRESS FOR GIRLS
  • Blouses/Shirts – Schoolbelles blouse (white) or polo shirt (white, red, or black) with CSHS logo. Polo shirts are to be tucked in at all times.
  • Pants – Schoolbelles khaki or black pants. Pants must be worn at the waist with a belt.
  • Skirts – Schoolbelles kilt style in solid black or red/black plaid. Skirts are to be worn at an appropriate length – no more than two (2) inches above the knee (skorts and box pleat skirts previously purchased at Schoolbelles will also be allowed).
  • Hair must be neat, clean and well groomed. Fad hairstyles (including unnatural coloring) are not permitted.
  • Earrings - no more than three (3) earrings per ear.

APPROPRIATE DRESS FOR BOYS
  • Shirts – Schoolbelles oxford (white) or polo shirts (white, red or black) with CSHS logo. Shirts are to be tucked in at all times.
  • Pants - Schoolbelles khaki or black pants. Pants must be worn at the waist with a belt.
  • Hair must be neat and clean and cannot go below the top of the collar. Fad haircuts (including unnatural coloring) are not allowed. Mustaches and beards must be neatly trimmed. A student may be withheld from school until his hair is cut.
  • Earrings are not allowed.

APPROPRIATE DRESS FOR GIRLS AND BOYS
  • Sweaters – Schoolbelles V-neck sweaters (red or black). All sweaters must be worn with an appropriate collared shirt/blouse underneath it.
  • Sweatshirts/Fleece - Sweatshirts/fleeces purchased from the school or Schoolbelles may be worn with an appropriate collared shirt/blouse underneath it. No hooded sweatshirts of any kind are permitted unless approved by the administration. The approved sweatshirt cannot be altered in any way.
  • Shoes - Standard dress shoe styles are to be worn with socks. Shoes should be a shade of black or brown. Open back shoes (clogs) are permitted if they are a dress style shoe. Athletic style shoes (white soles) are not permitted. All black coach/referee style shoes are permitted. No sports logo may be visible on the shoes. No work, combat or cowboy style boots are permitted. No open-toed shoes or sandals are permitted.
  • **Shorts** - Students may wear dress shorts from the first day of school until Labor Day and from May 15 through the end of the school year. Shorts must be loose fitting and come to at least mid-thigh. These shorts must meet the same color requirements as regular pants but DO NOT have to be purchased from Schoolbelles. During warm weather shorts may also be worn on other days designated by the administration. When shorts are worn students may also wear tennis shoes or dress sandals. Flip-flops and beach footwear are never permitted. Students must wear a regulation shirt but it may be worn untucked.

ADDITIONAL DRESS CODE REGULATIONS
  • No hats, head coverings or gloves.
  • No sunglasses.
  • No coats are to be worn in the classrooms or hallways during the school day unless authorized by the administration.
  • No accessories (jewelry, badges, buttons, belt buckles, etc.) related to drugs, sex or anything contrary to Christian beliefs are permitted. This regulation also applies at all sporting events, dances, etc.
  • No belts with excessive metal or decoration. Belts should be dress belts with a simple buckle.
  • Students may not have visible body piercings, this includes the tongue, and/or tattoos. If a student has a tattoo on his/her legs or forearms, the student may not wear shorts or shortsleeved shirts. Tattoos must be covered if visible while the student is in a sports uniform.
  • Only plain white undershirts are to be worn. Undergarments are to be worn so that they are not visible.
  • Students are provided with ample locker space and transfer time between classes. Back packs/book bags/purses are not allowed in the classroom. Students in violation of the dress code will be issued detentions. Chronic dress code infractions may result in a demerit.
